Like all sports, chess requires good judgment, critical thinking, and
decision-making. As Girl Scouts are introduced to the fundamentals of
chess, including piece names, movements, values, and basic tactics,
they will also discuss how good sportsmanship promotes teamwork,
respect, character-building, enjoyment, fair play, and a healthy
reputation.
Through this workshop, they will improve
their chess skills and strategies and build self-confidence and a
healthy reputation, empowering them to face challenges with integrity
and inspire others through their dedication and respect for the
game.
Prerequisites: No prior chess experience or
chessboards are needed, as activities will be conducted using a
virtual chessboard.
Girls will earn a chess patch with
a queen charm and badge. The chess patch is included.
