You are welcome to join and try us out for your first meeting at a Girl Scout Center!

Girl Scouts Centers are gatherings that welcome all girls in grades K-12 from the surrounding community to participate and begin Girl Scouting! This program is designed for girls and those who support them to learn more about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, our program!

A parent/guardian must stay at the meeting site unless the registration form has been completed. Annual membership* dues are $65 for girls and $30 for adults (Financial Assistance available).

Most girls participate with a group of girls of about the same age, known as a troop, organized by adult volunteers. In a troop, girls earn badges for each new skill they learn and challenge they overcome. Badges are grouped into four areas—outdoors, entrepreneurship, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), and life skills.

Being an IGM Girl Scout simply means you are not affiliated with a Troop. That can change at any point in time – it’s up to you!

Not every girl’s experience in Girl Scouts is the same–you can customize experiences to meet your unique interests. Mix and match special events, weekend workshops, leadership projects, work on awards, or travel.

All girls in grades K-12 can register as an IGM, and participate in everything open to their grade level.

The next Girl Scout membership year runs from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027. Annual membership dues are $65 for girl members and $30 for adult members. Additional local fees and discounts may apply. Financial aid may be available. Girl Scout memberships must be renewed annually.

What is Girl Scouts?
Girl Scouts is more than an activity—it’s a Movement dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

Why do girls love being Girl Scouts?
Girl Scouts is a way of life that brings out the best in your girl, even in the most challenging of times. While they’re learning about STEM, the outdoors, entrepreneurship, and important life skills, Girl Scouts are also discovering new ways to make their family and community stronger, kinder, and better for everyone.

How does it work? What’s a “troop”?
Groups of Girl Scouts, called troops, typically meet weekly or every other week for an hour or two. Guided by adult volunteers, troop members choose the hands-on activities and projects that excite them, try new things, and cheer each other on. Together, they earn badges to reflect their successes and show the world what they’re made of.

What’s the goal?
Making sure girls are given the opportunity to reach their full potential by developing values and skills that will lead them to happier lives.  

When can I get started?
If your girl is ready to let her best self shine and start creating the world she wants to see, she’s ready to be a Girl Scout today. A Girl Scout membership is $65—plus any applicable troop fees. A Girl Scout membership year starts on October 1 and lasts until September 30 of the following year, but you can get started early by joining or renewing your membership in April each year.
