None of the large fires currently burning in Arizona are threatening any of the camp properties owned and operated by the Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council (GSACPC).



GSACPC Girl Scout saves drowning 2-year-old

Gillian Perdue, a Junior Girl Scout, credits Girl Scouts with her heroic effort. She said she had just earned her water safety badge, and the tools she learned helped her save a child's life. Great job Gillian!

2011 Gold Award Recipient—Elaine Rhoades

The Desert Vista High School Band has a lot of pride and a good hairstyle, thanks to Elaine Rhoades of Phoenix.  Rhoades is a Girl Scout and will be awarded the Girl Scout Gold Award for her community service project to help the band.



2011 Gold Award Recipient—Kendall Carpenter

Kendall Carpenter is an avid reader and knows how a good book can change your life. She is also a Girl Scout and will be awarded the Girl Scout Gold Award for her service project to bringing reading materials to Canyon State Academy, a boarding school for troubled boys.



2011 Gold Award Recipient—Melia Coury

When patients step into the waiting room at Arizona Child Studies Center, they have Melia Coury to thank for what they see.  Melia is the creator of Project Comfort which painted murals for the non-profit behavioral health clinic. Coury is also a Girl Scout and will be awarded the Girl Scout Gold Award for her community service project.



2011 Gold Award Recipient—Samantha Weller

Samantha Weller learned at an early age how important horses can be in helping people.  Her brother, who has special needs, used horses to help him with coordination and confidence. Weller is also a Girl Scout and will be awarded the Girl Scout Gold Award for her community service at Horses Help, a therapeutic riding agency that helps handicapped people by using horses as therapy.
