Girl Scouts Get Out the Vote!

Posted: Oct 11, 2012

Girl Scouts from our council have been busy gearing up for the November 6th election!

Committee members from the My Voice, My Future (MVMF) program recently held a voter registration drive at Desert Mission Food Bank where Girl Scouts urged visitors to the food bank to register to vote and spoke about the importance of being civically engaged.  For those who were already registered, Girl Scouts asked them to sign their petition “I Promise a Girl Scout I will Vote on November 6th.”

See the video below, shot by "Know99," about these Girl Scouts' efforts!

Last week, Girl Scouts from Troop 2813 in Scottsdale visited a group of women who have a long history with the Girl Scouts organization. Several of the residents of the Vi at Grayhawk retirement community were Girl Scouts during World War II, and had amazing stories to share.

One woman recalls collecting scrap metal for the war effort, while another woman remembers how, using Morse code, she was able to get freed from a faulty elevator.
