Anna Maria Chávez, first Latina to Lead Girl Scouts National Organization, Returns to Her Roots in Arizona

Anna Maria Chávez, the new national CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA, will visit her home state of Arizona for the first time since taking over the world’s largest leadership organization for girls.  Chávez, who goes by the Twitter handle “Eagle 1,” (@GirlScoutEagle1) is the first Latina to lead the Girl Scouts national organization. 

One of the highlights of Chávez visit will be a tour of the grounds of Camp Sombrero, a long-standing Girl Scout Camp located at the base of South Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona.

Members of the media are invited to join Chávez as she views the camp and hears about renovation plans that will create a place for Arizona’s girls to call their own in the heart of the city.

Following the Sombrero tour, Chávez will head to her hometown of Eloy, Arizona, where the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona will host a gathering at Main Street Park.
