Girl Scouts win Presentation Award in Lego Robotics Competition!

Posted: Dec 13, 2011

This past Saturday, six Girl Scouts from troop 995—the “Robo Peeps” in Gilbert competed in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) State-level Competition and received first place in the “Presentation” category!

This year, teams explored the topic of food safety through science and robotics. They built, tested and programmed autonomous robots and developed innovative food safety solutions.

The girls from troop 995 built a robot and invented a companion device that allows a user to practice food safety while camping. The “Mix-o-Fridge” contains an oven, refrigerator, freezer and a heat lamp to equip campers with the precise temperature needed to keep their food fresh and safe.  Each team presented their invention, but only one team received the top score for their presentation: the “Robo Peeps!”
