Girl Scouts Volunteer at Phoenix Mayoral Inauguration!

Posted: Jan 03, 2012

This morning, four Girl Scouts volunteered their time at the 2012 Phoenix Mayoral and City Council Inauguration.  At the ceremony, the newly elected Mayor of Phoenix, Greg Stanton, was sworn in, along with councilmembers Thelda Williams, Bill Gates, Daniel T. Valenzuela and Michael Nowakowski.

After watching the ceremony, the girls cheerfully welcomed attendees to the reception and passed out inspirational quotes.

Emma Martin, a Cadette Girl Scout from Troop #995 believes it is important for people to vote, and to get involved in their communities.

“Since you are part of the community, you should know what is going on,” said Emma.  “When you vote, you are choosing who would be best for the community you have.”

Well said, Emma. And great work, Girl Scouts!
