Girl Scouts Get Out the Vote!

Posted: Oct 11, 2012

Girl Scouts from our council have been busy gearing up for the November 6th election!

Committee members from the My Voice, My Future program recently held a voter registration drive at Desert Mission Food Bank where Girl Scouts urged visitors to the food bank to register to vote and spoke about the importance of being civically engaged.  For those who were already registered, Girl Scouts asked them to sign their petition “I Promise a Girl Scout I will Vote on November 6th.”

See the video below, shot by "Know99," about these Girl Scouts' efforts!

The MVMF committee has many more plans to continue this work beginning with the Girl’s Guide to Voting Badge workshop for Girl Scouts on October 27th. Girls participating will learn about the voting history of our country, participate in a mock election and hear from a variety of speakers.  Cadettes-Ambassadors welcome. Seniors will earn the "Behind the Ballot" badge. To register for this program, [click here.]

The work MVMF is doing is part of Speak Out Arizona, a nonpartisan initiative to persuade local organizations to promote voter registration and civic engagement. To learn more about Speak Out Arizona visit www.speakoutaz.org
