Girl Scout on Channel 12 News to Promote “Rock the Mall” Video Submission!

Posted: Mar 23, 2012

Earlier this year, Kate Nelson from Troop 438 submitted a video for the K12- I Want to Rock the Mall YouTube contest, where Girl Scouts can create and perform an original song with the hope of being selected for the top prize: a trip to "Rock the Mall" in Washington D.C.! The winner will perform her song in front of the 200,000+ Girl Scouts at the "Rock the Mall" celebration!

Kate's video, along with several others were first featured on the NBC Today Show on the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts, March 12th!

Then, our local Channel 12 News had to speak to our star themselves!  On Monday, March 19th, Kate was on EVB Live with Kim Covington. She talked about the video contest, her dream of going to Rock the Mall, and even got to perform her song with help from Kim, and GSACPC staff Sam Sanchez-Perez.

Amazing job, Kate! You're fun and inspiring song has been in our heads ever since we first heard it! [Click here] to see her youtube video!
