To the editor:

The staff of Safe Child Center at Flagstaff Medical Center would like to thank the members and leaders of Girl Scout Troop 132 for their generosity and efforts during the past school year. Safe Child Center, a child advocacy center serving Flagstaff and Northern Arizona, was adopted by this compassionate and hard-working group.

The troop members made blankets of colorful warm fabrics and gave them to our Center so that they could be distributed to children who received services at the Center following the trauma of abuse. They also provided a selection of toys to be distributed to these children. The smiles on the children's faces, as they left with a soft blanket and a new toy, showed how special these gifts were to them.

Two of the troop members, Taylor Rice and Maya Smith, took the lead in planning a luncheon for Safe Child Center staff earlier this month. We enjoyed meeting the troop members personally and having the opportunity to thank them for their efforts. This troop has the good fortune to be lead by Shannan Rice and Leah Veschio, who guided the troop members as they also adopted a family through Safe Child Center at Christmastime. The gifts the troop selected for this family were very much appreciated by the family members.
