500+ Girl Scouts Celebrate their “It’s in the Bag” Accomplishments!

Posted: Apr 23, 2012

On Saturday, 500+ Girl Scouts joined together at the Zoo to celebrate the conclusion of the "It's in the Bag" project-which challenged Girl Scouts to go into their communities and collect plastic bags, then properly recycle them by donating them to local grocery stores.  More than 7,000 Girl Scouts participated.

The Girl Scouts had a lot to celebrate on Saturday! Through their efforts, more than 6 million plastic bags were prevented from entering our landfills!

At the celebration, Girl Scouts were able to get to know their sister scouts, hear about their efforts, eat lunch, and participate in the Earth Day activities held at the Zoo.

The highlight of the day: Pop band "Savvy" performed for the Girl Scouts! Great job, Girl Scouts! And don't stop your "green" efforts! Because of you, our world is a greener, better place!

This group of Daisies stopped for a photo before going into the Capstone Event!

These Girl Scouts and their troop leaders were all smiles at the Capstone Event!

These Daisy Scouts enjoyed their lunch!

Girl Scouts rock out to the pop band "Savvy!"
