Girl Scouts from our council have been busy gearing up for the November 6th election!
Committee members from the My Voice, My Future (MVMF) program recently held a voter registration drive at Desert Mission Food Bank where Girl Scouts urged visitors to the food bank to register to vote and spoke about the importance of being civically engaged. For those who were already registered, Girl Scouts asked them to sign their petition “I Promise a Girl Scout I will Vote on November 6th.”
See the video below, shot by "Know99," about these Girl Scouts' efforts!

Last week, Girl Scouts from Troop 2813 in Scottsdale visited a group of women who have a long history with the Girl Scouts organization. Several of the residents of the Vi at Grayhawk retirement community were Girl Scouts during World War II, and had amazing stories to share.
One woman recalls collecting scrap metal for the war effort, while another woman remembers how, using Morse code, she was able to get freed from a faulty elevator.

Who loves basketball? Girl Scouts! Because of the generous donation made by the Phoenix Mercury, some Girl Scouts were able to enjoy a game for free! The Phoenix Mercury donated 34 tickets and 28 hot dog and soda vouchers for the game on June 23. These tickets were distributed to girls who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in the Phoenix Mercury game experience.
We are most appreciative of our ongoing partnership with the Phoenix Mercury and our joint partner, Valley of the Sun United Way.
We give our hearfelt thanks to the Phoenix Mercury! Because of your donation, Girl Scouts and their families from across the Phoenix area were able to enjoy a wonderful experience.

Holly Snopko, Leader of Troop 1265 took some amazing photos on the troop trip to Rock the Mall in Washington DC! The Girl Scouts spent five days learning everything they could about DC-from the White House, to many museums, to Rock the Mall, to the monuments, to Arlington cemetary. Holly reports, "it truly was a trip of a lifetime!"
Thanks for the pictures, Holly! Click below for more pictures.

About 200 Girl Scouts from the Mountain Rose and Squash Blossom enjoyed a week of Twilight Camp at Camp Sombrero last week!
The theme this year—100 years of Girl Scouting!
Each night was dedicated to a different decade of Girl Scouting, and the girls were able to see the uniforms and other Girl Scout artifacts from that era, and learn what it might have been like to be a Girl Scout during that time period.
And of course, there was swimming, games, crafts, and Girl Scout songs!
On the last night, girls in 4th grade and older got a special treat! They were able to stay overnight and have a traditional Girl Scout Camp experience.
