Letter from Board President and CEO

Below are the top 12 ideas that were gathered at the Annual Meeting
  • "Build a better leader training program from available resources and actively teach the leaders and prospective leadership in the Sunset Skies neighborhood.  Points: girl scout history & traditions, songs, paperwork, available programs, teaching leadership, service project ideas, mentorship with existing troops.”
  • “Establish a program to increase communication and organization (i.e.: online forum for leaders).”
  • “Keeping the lines of communication open between council and volunteers via: website (providing updated info with resources); visits to neighborhood troops (Not MSEs).  Lines of communication should be an open dialog between council, volunteers and girls. “
  • “Provide online video training for adults, from welcome training, service team position training to level specific training and everything in-between possible!”
  • “The council will provide consistent and equal opportunities for troop involvement to girls (of all ages) with intellectual disabilities (such as autism).  These girls should be integrated with typically developing girl peers (whenever possible_ - not segregated into separate troops.”
  • “Great opportunity for girls after they have earned their Girl Scout Gold Awards.  In the past, the Gold awardees were going onto college, seeing as they were Seniors.  We need a better system for keeping the girls in touch with G.S.”
  • “Getting more fun activities for older girls to do.”
  • “Give girls leadership experiences through activities they design to enhance and customize the journey program which seems less flexible and too much like school work.”
  • “Better motivation for the Girl Scouts – good program for older girls.”
  • “I am going to talk with more adult women and give them insight on how they can affect future generations of girls by becoming Girl Scout leaders and how it will enrich their lives.”
  • “Better and more training for new leaders on how to be a leader.  As for seasoned leaders to volunteer to be mentors for first and second year leaders.”
  • “For neighborhoods to ask for volunteers for internet updates on training information, forums, availability of information and networking of resources, i.e.: sample meetings for different levels and Journeys, ideas for service projects, contact information for service projects, etc.  Need update and expansion of training and available resources for leaders.”
